Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior official commented the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
